Suncorp Group, a major Australian and New Zealand financial services provider with about 14,500 employees and roughly 4,500 new hires a year, faced a slow, paper-based onboarding process that hurt the employer brand and new-starter readiness. Manual offer letters, postal-dependent payroll setup and data errors created long lead times (an average 15.5 days to be job-ready), frequent missing equipment or system access for new hires, and significant administrative overhead.
Using a three-day LEAN review and partnering with PageUp, Suncorp implemented an integrated, automated onboarding solution and supporting training to embed the new process. The result: turnaround time dropped from 15.5 days to 3 days, processing costs fell by about 40%, paper-based packs were eliminated, workflows were simplified, and new-starter experience, productivity and employer-brand visibility all improved.
