Pittsburgh Technical College (PTC) brings PRTG into the IT Networking Classroom

Pittsburgh Technical College (PTC) wanted a way to give its IT students practical, industry-relevant experience while also monitoring its school network and lab environments. To support its Network Administration, Network Security and Computer Forensics, and related degree programs, the college turned to Paessler AG’s PRTG Network Monitor.

Paessler AG implemented PRTG across PTC’s virtual network, where the college installed 1,000 sensors to monitor VLANs, ESXi virtual machines, Cisco switches, routers, and domain controllers. The solution also supports the college’s internal botnet lab and gives students hands-on experience using a real-world monitoring tool in coursework, helping prepare them for the systems they may encounter in their careers.
