A Packet Case Study
Lix, a Denmark-based digital textbook startup founded in 2013, set out to solve the problem of expensive, heavy college textbooks by building an app for purchasing, annotating, highlighting, and searching e-textbooks. As its platform grew and needed continuous updates and immediate notifications, the team looked for a way to run Kubernetes on physical hardware with cloud-style provisioning, and turned to Packet.
Packet provided Lix with on-demand bare metal servers that supported Kubernetes in production, giving the company better performance and smoother operations. The new setup made deployments simple enough to handle by Slack, helped the team onboard and work with many developers at once, and let Lix focus on product growth instead of infrastructure management; the company also benefited from lower cost for greater performance as workloads scaled.
