AgBiome, a biotechnology company that sequences and catalogs tens of thousands of plant-associated microbes to create crop-protection products, faced a growing infrastructure challenge: manual, one-off genomic analysis scripts that didn’t scale and consumed scientists’ time. To move from artisanal workflows to automated, repeatable pipelines, AgBiome selected the Pachyderm platform to standardize end-to-end data-science pipelines and better handle their expanding genomic datasets.

Pachyderm delivered a container-based, language-agnostic pipeline system with built-in data versioning and a visual dashboard, allowing AgBiome to configure modular, repeatable workflows that run locally, on-premise, or in the cloud. By adopting Pachyderm, AgBiome converted manual scripts into scalable, reproducible pipelines, accelerated delivery of data to bench scientists, improved provenance and model backtesting, and now supports about 70 scientists working across tens of thousands of microbial genomes while positioning the company for future cloud and serverless expansion.
