Case Study: National Institute for Health Research improves research study tracking with PA Consulting

Using the latest technology to manage research studies with the potential to save lives

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre needed a better way to manage the progress of thousands of clinical studies across 15 local networks in England. With multiple systems in use, it was difficult to get an up-to-date view of study status, making tracking and intelligence sharing inefficient. PA Consulting was brought in to help create a single, more user-friendly system.

PA Consulting worked on site with CRN stakeholders using an Agile process to develop a bespoke cloud-based system built with the latest technologies. The new platform gives account holders central visibility of trial status, improves data reliability, reduces manual data entry for daily users, and supports future scaling and integration with external systems. The system is used by around 7,000 account holders.
