PA Consulting developed an innovative data-driven scheduling tool that uses two years of past operations data, surgeon performance, and patient need, and linked it to the waiting list and existing IT systems. Within four months, the trust was forecasting 488 extra operations per year, reducing early-finishing theatre sessions by an average of 105 hours per month and overruns by 30 hours per month.
