Case Study: IMI Critical Engineering achieves faster, cheaper training with PA Consulting

A PA Consulting Case Study

Preview of the IMI Critical Engineering Case Study

Using augmented reality technology to make training better, faster and cheaper

IMI Critical Engineering needed a better way to train engineers who install and maintain highly technical equipment used in extreme environments such as power, nuclear, and oil and gas facilities. To improve training quality, consistency, speed, and affordability, the company worked with PA Consulting to explore augmented reality training using Microsoft HoloLens.

PA Consulting developed a working augmented reality training prototype in just six weeks, packaging IMI Critical’s training modules and product information into the headset and testing Skype-based remote support for field engineers. The solution generated strong interest at a global industry conference and could cut training costs by 75% per person while doubling the speed of engineer training, helping IMI Critical advance its digital innovation strategy.
