Taking resilience to another level

Tesco Bank worked with PA Consulting to strengthen its operational resilience as it expanded its digital services. The bank wanted confidence that its resilience strategy, policies, and controls would keep pace with changing regulations and protect against shocks such as cyber attacks, vendor failure, and natural disasters.

PA Consulting carried out a resilience gap analysis using its prioritization approach to focus on what matters most to customers and the wider economy. The bank’s resilience and risk teams were brought closer together, staff awareness was raised, and the Board supported improvements including new IT testing, mapping of key interdependencies, and new recruitment. As a result, Tesco Bank was better placed to protect customers, safeguard its competitive advantage, and progress its 2020 digital strategy; the project was also shortlisted for the Continuity and Risk Awards 2016.
