Puget Sound Energy - Customer Case Study

Puget Sound Energy (PSE), a utility serving 1.1 million electricity customers and 750,000 natural gas customers in the northwest United States, wanted to improve customer service and shorten power-restoration times across its large network of power lines and gas mains. PA Consulting helped PSE address this challenge with a geographic information system and a digital outage management system to track assets, locate faults, and support faster restoration.

PA Consulting assembled a team spanning operations and IT and used an innovative “storyline” approach to align the solution with different business priorities. The system was delivered on time and within budget, enabling PSE to send servicemen directly to fault locations and automatically notify customers through digital channels, resulting in reduced power restoration times and a better customer outage experience.
