Water Source Australia, a B-Corp start-up, set out to expand access to clean, safe drinking water for communities without reliable potable water. The company needed a new decentralised approach to water treatment that could work at the community level and support safe distribution, monitoring, and maintenance. PA Consulting was brought in to help develop the concept into a viable product and platform.

PA Consulting designed and built a cloud-connected, IoT-enabled water treatment unit and the supporting platform, combining analytics, treatment, and remote maintenance capabilities. The team also defined the business capabilities, commercialisation roadmap, and partnership model needed to launch quickly. As a result, Water Source Australia now has a transformational solution that can produce more than eight litres of potable water per minute and is planned for commercialisation in high-growth and developing markets, helping democratise access to safe drinking water.
