PA Consulting worked with Major UK Bank on a major ring-fencing program to split its investment banking and retail banking operations into separate businesses. The bank needed to move data for around 9,000 clients into a new investment bank before the end-of-2018 deadline, while keeping business running without interruption.

PA Consulting’s IT, project management, and risk specialists assessed systems, designed new links, and tested data migration methods, while also reducing the scope of data to move from 250,000 settlement instructions to 50,000 by focusing on recently used records. PA Consulting prepared the data for a dress rehearsal two months early, enabling the bank to complete the transfer in a single weekend without disrupting operations and to reuse the approach for similar overseas projects.
