PA Consulting helped a leading US healthcare provider address rising financial pressure caused by reduced reimbursement and increasing costs. The not-for-profit organization, which handles up to 2 million patient visits a year, needed to cut annual IT spending from $63 million to $35 million within 18 months without affecting patient care.

PA Consulting ran the outsourcing tender, helped select the supplier, and worked with the provider to design an automated IT service covering application, network, computing, storage, security, backup, and recovery management. It also supported an automated service desk and virtual agent for routine support tasks. The new approach saves $700,000 a year in software licences and is expected to halve labour costs over three years.
