Giving more vulnerable people independence by transforming care technology

Southampton City Council, working with Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group, wanted to expand access to its care technology service so more vulnerable people could live independently and receive support more easily. PA Consulting helped them reimagine and relaunch the service as “Connected Care,” building on the existing private pay telecare offer and making it more accessible to patients, practitioners, and social care teams.

PA Consulting introduced an intuitive online referral process, enabled direct referrals from health practitioners, and supported the rollout of new care technologies such as GPS fall detectors and tracking devices. The work also improved awareness and pathways into the service, reduced referral time, and created better data foundations to measure benefits and guide future strategy, helping hundreds more people benefit from independent living support.
