Case Study: United Nations Global Compact drives sustainable development insights with PA Consulting

Driving sustainable development by helping business leaders understand new technologies

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) wanted to help business leaders understand which emerging technologies could drive commercial opportunity while also accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). PA Consulting supported this challenge through its technology and innovation expertise, helping shape Project Breakthrough and identify the technologies most relevant to future business transformation.

PA Consulting worked with UNGC, technical experts, and 150 companies to agree on 12 priority technologies, including drones, robots, the Internet of Things, digital agriculture, and gene editing. The team produced concise briefings showing how each technology could affect business models and support the SDGs, and UNGC is now using this foundation to develop practical support for businesses; the case study highlights the scope of the collaboration but does not provide specific quantitative results.
