Case Study: London Metal Exchange achieves £5.6 million in annual benefits with PA Consulting

PA Consulting helped London Metal Exchange (LME), one of the world’s leading commodity markets, tackle the challenge of re-engineering its 20-year-old trade-matching system and bringing it in-house. The LME also needed its 45 trading members to make significant process and technology changes, despite reluctance caused by a previous failed attempt at similar transformation.

PA Consulting supported the LME with a member-centric, market-wide change programme, coordinating 600 people across 58 organisations and developing an innovative phased migration approach to reduce risk. The result was a successful transition that secured £0.4 million in revenue that could have been lost, enabled the LME to launch new products more quickly, and delivered £5.6 million in annual benefits overall, including £4.5 million for the LME and £1.1 million in savings for its members.
