PA Consulting worked with Naturvårdsverket, Sweden’s environmental protection agency, to tackle a fragmented environmental reporting system. As legislation and reporting requirements grew, businesses were forced to submit the same data multiple times to different authorities, creating duplicate effort, inconsistent data, and unnecessary administrative burden.

PA Consulting helped Naturvårdsverket create scalable digital services and a reusable IT architecture to share data across government levels, automate processes, and connect with external sources such as the national business registry. The solution improved data quality and ease of use, freed up time for case officers and companies, and enabled easier, more accurate environmental reporting, with new digital services for producer liabilities launched in 2019 and more planned for 2020.
