Bury GP Federation, a group of practices in Greater Manchester, wanted to create a new way for patients to access GP appointments outside normal hours. PA Consulting helped them bid for government funding and design a seven-day primary care service tailored to local patient needs and demand.

PA Consulting developed the pilot in six months, covering patient experience, commercial arrangements, and IT systems for sharing records across practices. The service launched across multiple hub clinics, grew to five hubs with over 4,000 extra appointments a month, reached 190,000 residents, and achieved 99% patient satisfaction. This success also helped inform national policy for seven-day GP services across England.
