Saint Joseph’s University delivers 7,295 VR simulation sessions with Oxford Medical Simulation

Saint Joseph’s University sought to modernize its nursing curriculum and supplement clinical placements to provide students with comprehensive, realistic learning experiences. To achieve this, they partnered with Oxford Medical Simulation (OMS) to integrate virtual reality into their program.

The solution from Oxford Medical Simulation involved integrating its VR scenarios into courses, from individual homework to group-based classroom activities using live casting. A key feature was the use of OMS's Multi-Patient scenarios to teach prioritization and clinical judgment. The results were significant, with over 7,295 simulation sessions run and more than 2,883 hours of VR simulation delivered. This provided students with a safe, immersive environment to practice and improved their readiness for real-world nursing.
