A Oxford Medical Simulation Case Study
Palm Beach Atlantic University’s School of Nursing needed to expand simulation-based clinical training, boost student engagement, and better prepare senior students for the NCLEX while managing space and resource constraints. They chose Oxford Medical Simulation’s OMS VR system to give learners realistic, on-demand virtual ward scenarios where they can take histories, run investigations, administer treatments and receive detailed feedback.
Oxford Medical Simulation was embedded in a blended model (1.5 hours of VR within five-hour simulation sessions), enabling PBA students to complete 138 immersive scenarios in six months and improving clinical reasoning, prioritization, and student enthusiasm. The VR solution reduced space and consumable needs, freed faculty time to teach more learners, and cut per-session costs to under one-tenth of the typical $390 traditional simulation estimate, delivering measurable operational and educational ROI.
