Government of British Columbia protects 15,000 workers with OXD

The Government of British Columbia faced an urgent challenge at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic: safely bringing thousands of foreign agricultural workers into the province to maintain food security without introducing COVID-19 to local farms and communities. With the workers arriving imminently, the government engaged vendor OXD to use its co-design and human-centred design services to rapidly develop a solution.

OXD implemented a modified experience mapping method called "The Loop," which used iterative virtual co-design sessions with multiple government ministries to visualize and refine the workers' journey. This process resulted in a successful quarantine program that brought 15,000 workers into BC with zero COVID-19 spread to farms. The program protected the food supply, became a national model, and OXD's methods were subsequently integrated into other critical government programs.
