Case Study: US Nuclear Power Facility achieves NRC cybersecurity compliance with Owl Cyber Defense data diodes

A Owl Cyber Defense Case Study

US Nuclear Power Facility secures OT with Owl Cyber Defense and 1 Gbps data diodes

A US nuclear power facility was required to meet stringent US Nuclear Regulatory Commission cybersecurity regulations, which mandated increased network defense and the elimination of external connections to its critical operational technology (OT) systems. The facility also needed to enable one-way data flow to make OSIsoft PI System and Modbus critical asset monitoring data available to its corporate business users. To address this challenge, they partnered with Owl Cyber Defense.

Owl Cyber Defense implemented its OPDS-1000 data diodes to provide deterministic, one-way data transfer and eliminate all inbound access to the OT network. The solution was augmented with Owl's specialized OPTS and OMBI software for secure PI System and Modbus data replication. This achieved compliance with federal mandates, secured the OT network from external attack, and successfully enabled business continuity by providing IT end users with the critical monitoring data they required.
