Public Power Authority secures 10 plants and meets NERC CIP v5 with Owl Cyber Defense

The customer, a public power authority, faced the challenge of remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities identified in a GAO audit across its fleet of power plants. To maintain business continuity, it needed to meet strict NERC CIP and NRC regulatory guidelines, which required segmenting its OT networks and enabling secure, one-way data flow. The authority turned to vendor Owl Cyber Defense for a solution.

Owl Cyber Defense implemented its EPDS data diodes along with its OPTS PI System replication application. This solution created a deterministic one-way data transfer from the OT networks to the IT network, eliminating all inbound threats. As a result, the public power authority achieved full compliance with NERC CIP v5 and NRC security guidelines and maintained business continuity through a centralized, replicated PI System historian at its headquarters.
