National Grid Operator secures plants with Owl Cyber Defense’s OPDS-100 in near real-time, single-digit millisecond transfers

A national grid operator in South Asia faced the challenge of securely moving critical production data, alarms, and files from its power generation plants to remote users, including a market operator, without creating a new threat vector that could expose its secure plants to network cyberattacks. To meet this need, the operator selected Owl Cyber Defense and its OPDS-100 data diode solution.

Owl Cyber Defense implemented a single OPDS-100 device at each plant to provide a secure, one-way transfer of multiple data types and protocols simultaneously. The solution successfully isolated the plants from network attacks while allowing near real-time data replication. This created a secure "drop-box" for ad-hoc files, made redundant eDNA servers accessible to the market operator, and provided capacity for future expansion, all with a single, low-maintenance device.
