Nimbus Concept - Customer Case Study

Nimbus Concept, a two-person open-source consulting startup in Madrid, faced the challenge of helping small to medium-sized businesses manage their virtualization infrastructure. They needed a cost-effective alternative to solutions like VMware vSphere that offered deep integration capabilities and a clear path to enterprise support. The vendor, oVirt, provided a platform that met these needs with its open-source KVM-based management and potential for easy migration to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV).

The solution from oVirt was implemented for SME clients, typically on three to five nodes using GlusterFS or NFS/iSCSI for storage. Nimbus Concept also integrated oVirt with OpenStack Neutron using Puppet for deployment and leveraged its API for monitoring. The measurable result was a cost-effective replacement for VMware deployments. Furthermore, oVirt became a core component of Nimbus's own product, OriginStack, an integrated appliance that provides clients with a ready-to-use virtualized and private cloud solution out of the box.
