Holy Cross Mitigates Community Wildfire Risk and Increases Reliability with Satellite Vegetation Intelligence

Holy Cross Energy (HCE), an electric cooperative in Colorado, faced growing wildfire risk and reliability challenges across its extensive service territory. To move from a slow, cycle-based approach to a more strategic, risk-based vegetation management program, they partnered with Overstory to implement its satellite vegetation intelligence service.

Overstory provided HCE with a rapid, network-wide analysis that pinpointed critical risks, including five miles of lines in wildfire zones and dozens of hazard trees. This enabled HCE to create an immediately actionable mitigation strategy. The partnership allows HCE to prioritize trimming based on risk and SAIDI impact, which is helping them improve reliability, reduce wildfire danger, and save members from unnecessary costs as they transition their program.
