Case Study: Comcast achieves application reliability for 10M+ video customers with OverOps

A OverOps Case Study

Preview of the Comcast Case Study

How Comcast Ensures Application Reliability to Serve Over 10M Video Customers

Comcast, which serves over 10M video customers through its flagship X1 XFINITY platform, needed a better way to manage reliability across 23 million devices and weekly releases. Its existing log-based monitoring was inconsistent, noisy, and time-consuming, making it hard to identify which errors and exceptions were truly important. Comcast used OverOps to monitor the platform and surface unknown error conditions it hadn’t foreseen.

OverOps integrated with Comcast’s automated deployment model to instrument application servers and automatically identify errors as they appeared. The result was faster detection and routing of issues to the right developers, reduced manual log searching, and better visibility into the long tail of production problems. Comcast reported a reduction in mean time to identify (MTTI) by 90%+, helping the team react quickly and improve user experience.
