Case Study: Sooth decreases heatstroke accidents at construction sites with OutSystems

A OutSystems Case Study

Preview of the Sooth Case Study

With a Smart Helmet and OutSystems, Sooth Decreases Heatstroke Accidents at Construction Sites

Sooth, an experience design company in Japan, set out to tackle recurring heatstroke incidents at construction sites. Because workers often keep working despite symptoms and managers had no way to monitor individuals’ conditions in real time, heatstroke events were detected only after they occurred—endangering worker health and disrupting construction timelines.

In a three-month Heatstroke Prevention Project with OutSystems and partners Bluememe and Altitude, Sooth developed a smart helmet with embedded vital sensors and an integrated app that predicts heatstroke and sends alerts to workers and managers on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Built by three OutSystems developers (vs an estimated 18 months with traditional methods), the solution has seen fast adoption, reduced heatstroke accidents, improved working conditions and is projected to save millions in recovery costs.
