A OutSystems Case Study
Turismo de Portugal, the national tourism authority, needed to modernize and unify administration across its 16 tourism and hospitality schools, which were operating with fragmented paper- and spreadsheet-based systems, inconsistent processes and no centralized reporting. The organization aimed to improve service quality, standardize procedures, reduce bureaucracy and enable e‑government capabilities while supporting new services and faster access to information.
Using the OutSystems platform and an agile approach, a five-person team built and deployed a custom School Management System in 20 weeks to all 16 sites. The solution centralized student, class, professor and financial workflows, integrated with Oracle eBusiness Suite and HR systems, automated administrative tasks and provided self-service access—quickly adopted by over 4,300 users—resulting in standardized processes, real-time management reporting, lower operating costs and a scalable platform with IP retained in‑house.
