Total Produce Delivers Daily Fruit to UK Schools With OutSystems

Total Produce, one of the world’s largest fresh produce suppliers, faced a challenge winning and delivering on the UK government’s Fruit4Schools contract: it needed electronic proof of delivery to get paid, but paper signatures, missing paperwork, and manual processes threatened to make the contract unprofitable. The company turned to OutSystems to build an integrated mobile app with offline capability to support drivers and capture signatures reliably.

OutSystems worked with Total Produce using a shared, agile pilot-project approach and delivered the mobile app in 12 weeks total, including development, testing, and training. The solution added route guidance, signature capture, ERP integration, offline syncing, and back-office reporting, and it was adopted enthusiastically by more than 200 delivery drivers. The success led Total Produce to deliver four additional apps with OutSystems, while also reducing IT maintenance effort and improving speed of future innovation.
