Telkomsel Modernizes App Dev with OutSystems for Sixfold Agility Boost

Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest wireless carrier with about 169 million customers, needed to modernize its employee “super‑app” after a two‑year, multi‑technology build left enhancements and maintenance slow and costly. With limited developer resources, the company sought greater agility, faster time to market, and a simpler, more maintainable tech stack.

Telkomsel adopted OutSystems and, with a seven‑person team (four internal and three partner developers), rebuilt the app in four months—about six times faster—using agile sprints and a single consistent platform. The new “Moana” super‑app (60 modules) consolidates HR, IT, finance and general services—timesheets, leave, travel, work permits, emergency alerts—and simplified onboarding; Telkomsel now uses OutSystems for broader digital transformation and has delivered ten additional apps, reducing maintenance overhead and boosting developer productivity.
