Home Energy, a 2008 startup in the Portuguese residential renewable-energy market, needed to be operational fast to capitalize on new energy-certification regulations. The company required an end-to-end CRM and billing system to automate customer acquisition, field visits, energy-class certification, invoicing and payments, but found no off-the-shelf solution and could not afford the time or cost of traditional in-house development.
Working with OutSystems and partner Reditus, Home Energy built the CRM and billing system on the OutSystems Agile Platform and went live in 18 weeks (about 4.5 months). The solution delivered call-center, sales, marketing, field operations (tablet support and mapping), invoicing, partner portal, document management and integrations with SAP, Microsoft Virtual Earth and an ATM payment system; results included 120% of the original RFP delivered at the same cost, new features deployed in two days, high user adoption, no downtime and market-leader positioning.
