Philippine Insurer AFPMBAI Creates New Digital Loan Product in Under a Week

Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI) is a Philippine insurer that provides life insurance and loans to uniformed personnel and their families. When the March 2020 COVID lockdown made its largely face‑to‑face sales model untenable and government measures froze premium and loan repayments, AFPMBAI needed to digitize customer interactions immediately and launch a highly competitive loan product to shore up revenue.

Using OutSystems, the team turned a static website into an interactive portal, built digital forms in a day and delivered the new loan product in four days with two days of testing. They rapidly patched a legacy-system integration on launch day and sold the entire PHP156 million (about US$5M) portfolio within days, giving AFPMBAI a fast, flexible digital platform for future products.
