A OutSystems Case Study
The City of Oakland set out to modernize resident services and improve digital inclusion but faced outdated, paper‑based processes and legacy systems that required in‑person visits. A lean in‑house team of five struggled with slow, costly projects that limited access for underserved residents and hampered the city’s ability to deliver timely digital services.
Using OutSystems (with partner Do iT Lean), Oakland built OAKAPPS—a single sign‑on portal—and delivered eight apps in 12 months, transforming service delivery and enabling rapid future app additions. The city saved an estimated $1 million by cutting development time and avoiding costly third‑party fees, boosted developer credibility with a growing pipeline of apps, and increased resident access (about 1,100 early users with broader adoption expected).
