MarCoPay Releases Dual Currency eWallet Mobile Platform Faster with OutSystems

MarCoPay is a Manila-founded eMoney issuer that built a dual-currency eWallet to improve the financial lives of seafarers and their families, using a cloud ledger tied to satellite connectivity so transactions work even with intermittent internet. After spending a year perfecting its unique backend, the company faced a time-to-market challenge: it needed a faster way to deliver polished mobile and web frontends to reach users globally and reduce the risks of cash-based payments at sea.

Partnering with OutSystems and TESI, MarCoPay used low-code agile development to build its dual-currency eWallet mobile app in a fraction of the traditional development time. The launched app—offering salary payment, P2P transfers and remittances, cash withdrawals, loans, insurance and FX—has reduced the need to carry cash, made remittances simpler and safer for the maritime community, and continues to evolve with new features.
