Inside Autoliv’s OutSystems Center of Excellence

Autoliv, the global leader in automotive safety with over 65,000 employees, faced a fragmented IT landscape after decades of growth and mergers. Legacy systems and growing demand for bespoke apps left developers overwhelmed and slowed delivery, so Autoliv began using OutSystems in 2011 to modernize web apps and scale development internationally.

Autoliv established an OutSystems Center of Excellence—seven core developers who run workshops, provide training, reusable templates, and LifeTime-based ALM—to standardize development and speed deployments. The result: more than 100 OutSystems apps worldwide, faster onboarding (2–3 weeks), reduced maintenance overhead, and rapid mobile delivery (e.g., the iApprove front end rebuilt for Android and iOS in about a month).
