Wasco is a Dutch wholesaler supplying more than 450,000 heating and sanitary products and spare parts to service engineers. To speed up on-site selection and ordering and stay competitive, Wasco needed an on-demand mobile catalogue that would be ready in five weeks for a trade show, flexible enough to adapt to evolving requirements, and able to leverage existing IT investments.

Using the OutSystems platform, Wasco launched Wasco Mobile (PDA and smartphone interfaces) in the five-week timeframe, offering the full 450,000-item catalogue, fast tree-structured search, real-time ordering, public browsing with secure customer login for net pricing, and ERP integration for up-to-date data. The project delivered rapid time-to-market, strong business alignment through iterative development, easy ongoing changes, and high adoption (about 1,000 sessions per weekday).
