ERSAR develops and deploys e-government platform in 16 weeks with OutSystems® Platform

ERSAR, the Portuguese regulator for water and solid waste, needed a tailored employee portal and a scalable e‑government platform to support daily tasks and a backlog of applications; no off‑the‑shelf package met their needs, so they set a 16‑week target to deliver the first release.

Using the OutSystems agile low‑code platform they launched "my portal" in 16 weeks with five initial apps (directory, issue/ticketing, community forums, meeting management and library) and rapidly added document, process, laboratory tools and dashboards. The portal is now used by all 55 employees (high daily usage), with 96% rating it very useful and 98% reporting process optimization; benefits included centralized information, elimination of paper flow, a two‑week release cadence and a continuous "software factory" for ongoing enhancements.
