Christelijke Mutualiteiten (CM) is Belgium’s largest health insurance fund, serving 4.5 million members through a nationwide network of branches and 70,000 volunteers. Facing rising demand for modern, omnichannel customer experiences, CM’s IT organization—largely Java-based on the back end—needed a faster, more iterative front-end and workflow development approach to reduce reliance on scarce senior Java skills and speed delivery.

CM adopted OutSystems with partner Providit, first building governed foundations and reusable integrations (e.g., Care Volunteering) and then delivering the My CM omnichannel suite—web portal plus native iOS/Android apps—in nine months (UI delivered in four months) with a core team of five developers. The result: My CM rolled out to all 4.5M customers, strong user ratings and positive feedback, 27 OutSystems apps in production, roughly 40% faster development compared with Java, easier DevOps and maintenance, and ongoing digital transformation and in-house developer growth.
