Al Salam Bank Provides Financial Lifelines for Customers During COVID-19

Al Salam Bank, a Bahrain-based Islamic bank serving tens of thousands of retail, private, and corporate customers, needed to deliver seamless, consistent experiences across branches and digital channels. Off‑the‑shelf digital banking products were too rigid, costly, and hard to align with the bank’s Shari’a‑compliant processes, so Al Salam set out to find a flexible platform to modernize customer onboarding and digital services.

Using OutSystems, the bank built a mobile onboarding app and other customer-facing channels in under four months and even launched a COVID‑relief portal in two days to deliver interest‑free loans, deferments, and credit increases. The solution cut account setup to minutes, accelerated product delivery, grew the OutSystems team to 10 developers, and shifted the organization to a digital‑first, fast‑moving innovation model.
