A OutSystems Case Study
Albert Heijn, part of Ahold Delhaize, needed to modernize store operations after a 20‑year‑old legacy platform forced employees to juggle nine backend systems, clunky desktop Oracle forms and an outdated handheld web app. The poor mobile UX and high staff turnover increased training time and pulled employees off the shop floor, limiting efficiency across 1,000+ stores in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Working with OutSystems and partners Transfer Solutions and LinkIT, Albert Heijn co‑created the Wink app with store employees, consolidating nine systems into one modern mobile front end and rolling it out iteratively to 1,000+ stores and 100K+ users. Wink halved time on key tasks, cut training needs and expired‑product fines, improved planogram searches and staff productivity, and earned industry recognition.
