Hipcamp, an online marketplace for camping, needed to understand its diverse audience of RV campers to improve its marketing and product features. The challenge was to create a detailed segmentation of this audience, a process their small research team lacked the resources to complete using traditional, time-consuming methods of interviews and surveys.

Partnering with Outset, Hipcamp used its AI-moderated interview platform to conduct over 200 in-depth video interviews with RVers in just one week. The AI was able to ask dynamic follow-up questions, capturing nuanced insights into camper behaviors and motivations. This allowed Hipcamp to quickly build a robust segmentation, a task that would have taken a full quarter using their own resources, enabling them to better target their marketing and product development.
