Case Study: Third Wave Automation achieves reliable warehouse object detection with Ouster OS0 lidar

A Ouster Case Study

Third Wave Automation boosts warehouse aisle detection with Ouster’s 90° FoV and 35m range

Third Wave Automation, a company dedicated to collaborative autonomy, faced the challenge of integrating automated guided vehicles (AGVs) into busy warehouse environments without disrupting existing operations. They needed a system that could operate safely around people and other forklifts while navigating narrow aisles, requiring highly precise and reliable object detection. To meet this need, they turned to lidar sensors from Ouster.

Ouster provided its OS0 sensors, which feature an ultra-wide 90-degree field of view and reliable short-range detection capabilities. This solution enabled Third Wave's forklifts to perceive objects throughout entire warehouse aisles with high precision. The results included a highly flexible system that increased warehouse efficiency and labor productivity, allowing workers to focus on more complex tasks while one operator could manage up to 10 autonomous trucks.
