Open Space deploys real-time synthetic mobility hubs in 2019 with Ouster

Open Space, in partnership with Avanti West Coast Rail, faced the challenge of managing UK mobility hubs without reliably accurate data for crowd analytics. This lack of essential information hindered proactive station management and created a disconnect between design and real-time operation. To address this, they turned to Ouster and its OS series sensors.

Using Ouster's lidar sensors and Gemini perception software, Open Space created a people-centric digital twin platform. This solution provided real-time passenger monitoring, intelligent data visualization, and advanced pedestrian simulation. The results transformed station operations, enabling predictive alerts, enhancing safety and customer experience, and allowing for data-driven maintenance decisions. Open Space successfully deployed this system at St Pancras and is expanding to other stations.
