Chattanooga City expands Ouster BlueCity to over 120 intersections

The city of Chattanooga sought to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety on its roadways through the adoption of smart city technology. To achieve this, the city partnered with vendor Ouster to implement its BlueCity ITS solution, a lidar-based detection system.

Ouster implemented its BlueCity solution, which uses digital lidar sensors and AI perception software to create a real-time 3D digital traffic twin of intersections. Following a successful pilot, Chattanooga is expanding the Ouster system to over 120 intersections, making it the largest deployment of lidar for traffic and pedestrian safety in the United States. This provides the city with data for optimized traffic signal management and improved safety interventions.
