Wilmot Union High School pilots standards-based grading with Otus and 21 teachers

Wilmot Union High School faced the challenge of transitioning to a standards-based grading system without a shared structure, leading to inconsistent practices, confusing reports, and a lack of clarity for students and families. The school partnered with the vendor Otus to help bring coherence to this initiative.

The solution implemented using Otus was the creation and centralization of ESIC tables ("Essential Standards + I Can Statements") and common rubrics, which provided a clear, consistent framework for assessment. This gave teachers, students, and families one aligned view of student progress. The results were more meaningful conversations about learning, targeted student support, and a refined, intentional grading process. Otus served as the unified platform to house all evidence of learning and make the shift successful.
