A Otus Case Study
Nampa School District, a large district in Idaho, was fully aligned on using standards-based grading (SBG) to measure student learning but lacked a unified tool to implement and report on it. Teachers were using a disjointed array of methods like spreadsheets and paper gradebooks, which made it difficult to share student progress outside the classroom and personalize instruction. To solve this, the district partnered with the vendor Otus and adopted its K-12 learning platform.
By implementing the Otus platform, which was built specifically for standards-based grading, the district successfully transitioned over 1,000 teachers to using SBG. The solution provided transparency through its standards gradebook, customized reports, and easy-to-read family report cards. This gave everyone a clear view of student performance, enabling the district to better personalize the academic experience for each student and support their core mission of creating a tailored learning environment.
