A OTTO Case Study
Rosas & Xocolate, a luxury resort and spa in Mérida, Mexico and member of the Design Hotels group, faced the challenge of creating a sophisticated visual identity from scratch. With only a construction site, architectural renderings, and a fast-approaching deadline for a major Design Hotels catalogue, owner Carol Fischer needed OTTO to articulate his personal vision into a comprehensive brand that blended high design with authentic Mayan and Mexican folk art influences.
OTTO developed a deep brand system by conducting extensive cultural research in the Yucatán. They created an abstract mark based on traditional patterns, a refined color palette, and a flexible identity applied to everything from the hotel and spa to chocolates and menus. The solution was designed for inexpensive reproduction and continuous expansion. OTTO successfully launched the brand on time, creating an immersive and seamless experience that met the Design Hotels deadline and is now integral to the resort's decision-making and expanding into new products.
