Genentech Migrates to Event Frames to Reduce Analysis Time at Pharmaceutical Facility by 25%

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group and a leader in biotechnology, faced a challenge of fragmented, multi-sourced process data and time-consuming manual KPI calculations across DeltaV, Excel and Matlab. Although they had used the PI System for over 15 years, compiling compliance reports and performing analyses required many hours of spreadsheet work and bespoke templates.

Working with Control Systems Integration, Genentech upgraded to PI Server 2015, built out Asset Framework and interfaces, and migrated 10 years (7 million events) of batch data into Event Frames via a PI-to-PI approach with just three days of downtime. The consolidation delivered real-time KPI dashboards, eliminated many manual calculations, reduced analysis time by about 25%, saved hours each week, and improved confidence, compliance and process visibility.
