A OSIsoft Case Study
ENKA, a major Turkish construction and energy firm, was contracted to design, build, own and operate three combined‑cycle power plants totaling 3.85 GW during a period of rapidly growing electricity demand. Facing a four‑year timeline, diverse equipment with different data formats, strict environmental and regulatory reporting requirements, and the need to control costs and minimize downtime, ENKA needed a way to aggregate and act on operational data from day one.
ENKA implemented the PI System (alongside EtaPRO) to centralize 85,000 data streams for some 200 users, using PI ProcessBook and PI DataLink for role‑based reporting and compliance. The system enabled engineers to set and verify optimal operating parameters, monitor turbines against historical benchmarks, and run diagnostic tests—helping achieve about 96% uptime, streamline reporting and maintenance, and save roughly $1 million by detecting and proving a bypass‑valve fault during the warranty period.
