Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), a 500‑bed academic medical center in Portland, needed to migrate and integrate dozens of legacy clinical systems to support a new Epic EMR. To move, manage and streamline message exchange across 60 departmental interfaces (lab, radiology, pharmacy, cardiology, billing, etc.), OHSU selected Orion Health’s Rhapsody Integration Engine to handle the complex data integration required for the go‑live.

Orion Health implemented Rhapsody in parallel with the Epic deployment, helping to optimize configuration and troubleshoot during a rapid cutover; OHSU now sends nearly 3 million messages per day via Rhapsody (2,900,000 sent; ~1,250,000 received and ~2,200,000 processed daily). Rhapsody’s protocol support, mapping, web monitoring and automatic resend capability (fixing about 9 in 10 failures) reduced help‑desk issues, sped troubleshooting, and enabled reliable, low‑cost back‑end integration—outcomes attributed directly to Orion Health’s solution.
